Better your home's indoor/outdoor connection with one of these DIY deck kits.
The arrival of warmer weather has us flocking outside and considering how to spruce up our outdoor spaces—and one quick, simple route is to install a deck system. Typically available in treated wood or composite materials in a range of colors, deck kits often include add-on options like benches, stairs, and railings that help customize your outdoor oasis. Below, we feature five companies that are producing easy-to-assemble deck kits.
UDECX, based just outside Dayton, Ohio, has developed a series of modular, portable, and easy-to-install outdoor decks that require no cutting, drilling, or nailing. Their decks are made out of a composite material that contains no wood fillers, so rot and insect problems are not an issue.

Good Times Decking makes prefabricated decking kits, mostly available in Australia, in a range of different woods, including treated pine and merbau, and different sizes. They also offer kits made out of composite decking material in a reddish tone, brown, and gray.

Based in the UK, Metsä Wood has developed a modular deck kit formed by individual modular decking squares. The kit includes pre-cut lengths of sustainably sourced wood, so all you need to do is follow directions for slot assembly using a sub-frame and pre-notched joists. Because of the modular system, you can make your deck as large or small as you wish.

Their kits are available in a variety of predetermined sizes, from as small as eight feet-by-six feet to as large as 16 feet-by-12 feet.
