You’ll be hard-pressed to find a hotel that exudes the kind of creative energy and ambience that’s prevalent throughout the M Social Hotel in Singapore by the Millennium Hotels and Resorts group. Designed by French designer Philippe Starck, this hotel was inspired by the futuristic direction that young creative thinkers today are steering the world towards.
The M Social Hotel features 293-rooms that provide views of the Singapore River and the Robertson Quay enclave, while the common rooms encourage camaraderie and community amongst guests. If you’re a fan of color, you’ll be pleased to see that the interiors are filled with bright colors, modern light fixtures, graphic art, patterned tiles from Spain, plush furnishings, and even a giant “mystery box” cube.
From Philippe Starck:
M Social is where all the elements of the world – including creativity, humor, and love – come together in an explosion of energy to create the joys of today’s and tomorrow’s world. To me, it is a stage dedicated to creative people.
Uniforms from Japanese label Uniqlo are worn by all staff members, marking the first time that the fashion brand ever collaborated with a hospitality brand. Another first is the hotel’s self-check-in kiosks in the lobby, the first ever for the country, as well as complimentary smartphones preloaded with a city guide, unlimited data usage, and free phone calls locally and internationally.
Inside the rooms, guests will find a calmer palette but with the same futuristic vibes seen throughout the hotel. For a splurge-worthy vacation, the Bigger Room mimics the style of a Manhattan loft with sky-high ceilings and a terrace full of lush greenery.
If you’re hungry and thirsty, you can grab a bite and a cocktail at the hotel’s Beast & Butterflies which offers cuisines created with Eastern and Western influences.
Be sure to check the website for events put on by the hotel’s thematic I M Social Series, a program curated by the M Social Committee (made up of key opinion leaders like Lim Sek [CEO, Music & movement] and Timothy Go [Founder, Tech360.TV]) to encourage meaningful gatherings and creative discussions.
Starck plans to have similar M Social openings in places like Seoul, Korea, and other cosmopolitan cities.
