The Sustainable Building Summit will consist of a vendor showcase running concurrently with several breakout sessions led by industry experts. The Summit will showcase new technologies, renewable energy and green building innovations to our local construction and design companies. The idea for the Summit originated from several dozen conversations held between Biosphere Institute staff, members of the Bow Valley Builders and Developers Association (BOWDA), and local developers and contractors in May - October 2019. We discussed what our local development and contracting community is already doing related to energy efficiency, renewable energy and green building, what topics they would like to learn more about, and what formats would best facilitate their learning.
The Biosphere Institute systematically recorded and analyzed contractors’ and developers’ feedback. We then joined with BOWDA leadership and the Town of Canmore to design a Summit that aims to directly address the topics of greatest interest to our local builders and trades, using a combination of formats (an exhibitor showcase plus breakout presentations and workshops) that they indicated best suit their learning needs.
