Event Date: Apr 15, 2020; Event City: Los Angeles, CA, US

We look forward to welcoming Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher, Helen Hilton Raiser Curator of Architecture and Design at SFMOMA and Tatiana Bilbao, Principal of Tatiana Bilbao ESTUDIO, for our annual Richard Weinstein Lecture on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

On the occasion of the Tatiana Bilbao Estudio exhibition on view at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), architect Tatiana Bilbao and curator Jennifer Dunlop will speak about the issue of housing from a design perspective. While politicians are working to address the need for shelter, it is fully within an architect’s capacity to create not just a house, but a home. Bilbao, whose office is based in Mexico City, began her architecture career working in the government’s housing department and today has designed a range of domestic projects from high-end single family homes to multi-dwelling affordable housing, each with the same level of attention to how the residents will use the space. Finding opportunities for individual retreat and collective gathering is important in every home, Bilbao and Dunlop will discuss the changes in 21st century domestic living, the responsibility of architects to instill integrity in every project, and the exhibition as a platform for presenting progressive architectural proposals.
